Overview:

Abstract: The study examines the cause for damages on a photogram made by Floris M. Neusüss on direct reversal paper (Kodak Kodagraph Transtar Paper TPP5). After describing the basic operating mode of direct reversal paper and examining the characteristics of Kodak TPP5, accelerated aging and peroxid tests were done to compare the different papers and to interpret the results. These results lead to conclusions on the cause of damage on the photogram and gave reference for the general aging behaviour of Kodak TPP5 paper. The possibilities for a chemical restoration were then tested and evaluated on samples. Also various procedures to subsequently stabilize the picture silver through toning were examined.
