Abstract: As a part of the history of an object, the history of restoration may take considerable influence on the information content of artificial and cultural possessions. This bachelor-thesis deals with the history of restoration of two manuscripts from the scriptorium of the Reichenau; the Epistolar / Orationale in Sollemnitates (Hs688) from the Dombibliothek (cathedral library) in Hildesheim and the Evangelistar (Cod. Guelf. 84.5. Aug. 2°) from the Herzog August Bibliothek (library of Herzog August) in Wolfenbüttel.
The chronology and the details of the different restorations on the manuscripts are shown. To this aspects belong the possible reasons, which former spoke for the realization of the restorations and the way in which the corresponding measures were fulfilled. Also the persons who demonstrably refer to the restorations are mentioned.
In the end a general view of the history of restoration is given for every of the both manuscripts of the Reichenau.
