Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: This thesis sets out to examine the method of constructing a relative chronology known after is originator as the Harris Matrix. First the theoretical principles and prerequisites are discussed, followed by a chapter describing the method in practise on an urban excavation in Freiberg, Saxony. Examples from German language literature antecede a discussion of the advantages and limitations of the method and its appropiate fields of usage. The author presents the results of a survey carried out for this thesis, on the use of the Harris Matrix and concludes by summarising her critical analysis of the subject.
