Abstract: Theme: The „Wiedenbrücker Schule“. Artists – workshops – division of work
This paper deals with the history of the “Wiedenbrücker Schule”. The “Wiedenbrücker Schule” was a kind of network of spexified workshops of different art craft branches, with the main focus of the production of sacrid art.
The high point of their creative period egins 1860, with the establishment of the workshop of Franz Anton Goldkuhle, who built altars, and ends with the second world war. Because the inquiry of sacrad art in the neo-Gothic- and neo-Romanesque-style get less, some of the concerns change on furniture production.
The second part ot this paper deals with the funktion and the technik of the artists and the craftmen in Wiedenbrück. This part shows, among the rest, of the example of the relief “Fürbitte des hl. Josephs für die Kirche” (rogation of the holy Joseph for the church) out of the workshop of Anton Mormann, the technic how they worked in the “Wiedenbrücker Schule”. For this investigations of the wood, the binder and the pigments are carried out.
The last part of the paper shows the change of the esteem of the art of the “Wiedenbrücker Schule” from the second half of the 19. century.
