Abstract: This paper describes and portrays the investigation of the wall paintings painted in Kundal-technique that are found in the south-eastern side-gallery in the mausoleum Ischrat-Khane of the year 1464 in Samarkand in Uzbekistan. The focus lies on the investigation of the painting-technique, of the used materials as well as on the recording of the existing stock. Due to the gained results re-creations of the technique were carried out, and a concept for preserving and restoring the yet existing stock was developed.
