Abstract: In the twentieth century began the manufacture of modern metal threads using aluminium foil or metalized plastic films laminated with synthetic materials. The chemical properties and deterioration of these materials are described. Examination of the treads and methods for the identification of the materials are being reviewed. It follows the examination of a Filmcostume of Marlene Dietrich from the collection of Deutsche Kinemathek in Berlin. Furthermore the handling of textiles with modern metallic threads and possibilities of cleaning are discussed.
