Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The basic material beetle can be found on various objects of art from past eras as well as from contemporary art. The objects variety and the application of differing body parts form a main focus of this work. The central question of this examination is: Which are the properties of this remarkable material?. One aspect is to explain the iridescence of the used parts and its durability in view of possible conservation treatment. Four objects will be introduced and examined. On the basis of these insights recommandations can be given on how restorers should handle such objects.
