Overview:

Abstract: The Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg preserves most of the drawings and prints of Wilhelm Lehmbruck by far. Unfortunately, a lot of the published information about these objects is incomplete and incorrect. The aim of this thesis is to develop a cadaster for Lehmbruck`s graphic work in order to collect basic information with which successive research could be initiated and enabled. Besides, the condition of the papers shall be surveyed in the cadaster, so that the need and scale of any conservation activities can be estimated. In addition, some technological aspects like exact descriptions of the papers used by the artist will be included. On the basis of some exemplary restorations the last section shows to which extent a combination of light bleaching and capillary cleaning can be used for Lehmbruck`s graphics.
