Overview:

Abstract: Ozonisation is an effective methode to remove odours.
This research paper explaines its process and applies itself to the question if this methode is also suitable for removing odours of arts and cultural assets.
Therefor the colorfastness of different colorants applied on watercolor paper and glass was tested. The samples were exposed to different ozone concentrations for 2,5 and 6 hours. Color differences were calculated from the measured diffuse reflectance and absorption spectra.
Compared with anorganic colorants a lot of organic colorants reveald light color changes.
This experiment showed that especially used binders affect color change.
Thus the ozonisation could pose a risk to colorants.
