Overview:

Abstract: Internet public relations (PR) in the field of conservation presents an uninvestigated topic in Germany. This thesis explores the opportunities online media offer and focuses on the presence conservation departments in German public institutions have on the internet. Through an analysis of 64 internet Websites using newly defined criteria, this study assesses the current usage. Interviews with experts and representatives of conservation departments were conducted to provide insight into the motivations behind the different internet PR strategies. Additionally, detailed analyses of exceptional examples highlight the online PR possibilities. Ultimately, this thesis helps the field of conservation effectively implement PR strategies using the internet.
