Abstract: Metal mountings on late medieval wooden sculptures represent a rare phenomenon. This observation is illustrated by the earliest preserved sculptures with full metal mountings to the late medieval sculptures with partial metal sheets. A term used to describe the phenomenon is determined. The emphasis of this study are the gothic sculptures with painted areas and metal sheets. The research on the preserved sculptures from the Gothic and the newly acquired findings to their technology are listed in the catalog.
