Overview:

Abstract: Developed by Bela Gaspar the first colour film based on a silver dye-bleach process was presented 1933 in Berlin. Today the conserved Gasparcolor films have lost little of its original colour intensity and brilliance. This unique aesthetics of colour often gets lost when preserving on modern colour materials.

The aim of this paper is to discuss analog and digital options, which can lead to improved colour reproduction of the original appearance of restored Gasparcolor films. On the basis of two Gasparcolor prints of the film „Radio Prohaska prophezeit“ the Gasparcolor process is described historical and technical and a concept of the reconstruction is developed.
