Abstract: Life-size lead statues have been manufactured in small series in Holland and England since the 17th Century and served as baroque garden decoration. The modified indirect lost-wax process for lead enabled a wider ränge of customers to possess the populär antique and contemporary sculptures äs outdoor decoration. Only few baroque lead statues are kept.

The four well kept lead statues from Lerchenborg Slot helped to reconstruct the hardly researched manufacturing process. Based on investigation ofcore material and reinforceing irons a concept for preservation of the four lead statues in an open-air area could be developed.
