| Abstract: | The consolidation of scaling rock surfaces remains an important subject in the preservation and restoration of stone. Nowadays the rock scales can be mostly preserved by measures such as injections. In order to succeed with the injection method varying pretreatments of these scale surfaces need to be carried out. One step is to moisten the internal scale surfaces with a suitable matter to either increase flowability or the adhesion of the material to the subsurface. This thesis argues the correct timing of injection after the process of wetting and makes an attempt of a meaningful conclusion. Supported is this conclusion by research into the timing of injection and its influence on flow quality and adhesive tensile strength. Ultimately the size and quantity of rock pores turned out to be the determining factor. |
