Abstract: This diploma thesis deals with investigation, conservation and restoration issues related to the curved epitaph from the St. Wenzel Church in Naumburg Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. The first volume explains how the curved panel painting is constructed and is focused on the documentation of the conservation und restoration works. The key issue of the theoretical part was to research other curved epitaphs and panel paintings and to compare the techniques of construction. The results are written down in the second volume.
