Overview:

Abstract: Main focus of this thesis was the conservation and restoration of both wings of the Frankensteiner altar piece of the Stadt- und Bergbaumuseum Freiberg. The sculpt altar wings with painted figures on the closed shutters, exhibit only a fragmentarily preserved polychromy and painting layer. Coatings of former treatments on the right wing have been reduced in addition to the conservation of both altar wings. Additionally, this work shows possibilities for a joint presentation of the howle, fragmentarily preserved Frankensteiner altar piece.
