This bachelor thesis addresses criteria which are needed to determine the usability of the old stocks for the library called TIB. The aim is to create a checklist which demonstrates specific conditions for the examination of usability. This checklist will be submitted to the TIB as suggestion for the user validation of their old stocks. The criteria are determined on the basis of literature sources. Thereby, it refers to the building up and weak points of the books as well as the development of damages. Furthermore, it illustrates the meaning of the common usability. This is followed by a description of the current handling of the usage of old stocks at the TIB. In the end, a checklist is developed with criteria for the user validation of the TIB’s old stocks.
