The content of this bachelor thesis is the examination of a roman composite dagger sheath, composing of iron, copper alloy and mineralized organic remains recovered from Kalkriese, Osnabrücker Land. It focuses on the identification of organic remains and their treatment, hindered by previous consolidation with Acryloid® B72. Based on information on the construction and layer sequence of the dagger sheath, an attempt on interpreting and reconstructing the find and its surroundings on excavation, shall be made. The concept of conservation and restoration was carried out based on scientific analysis and trial tests.
