In this paper, the condition of the Sielaff coinup scale was documented and, on the basis of the documentation, a concept for restauration and conservation of the scale was created. For the concept, various scientific examinations were carried out and the relevant literature was reviewed. The concept was developed from the combination of the literature and ethical works. Furthermore, a test series was compiled in order to test the aptitude of diverse consolidants and matting agents for matting. These tests followed similar trials that were carried out on a different synthetic material. Finally, various sources were consulted for age determination and historical embedding.
