Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The main focus of the work lies in securing the finding of a painting from the St. Andreas Church in Hildesheim that has been rediscovered. Due to the heavy soiling of the object, a first dry cleaning is carried out in order to be able to capture what is depicted. The technological examination of the object then takes place as part of the securing of findings. The structure of the object, materials, damage and previous restoration measures are documented and recorded with the help of photographs and drawings. Water sensitivity tests and a UV examination are carried out to support this. In order to be able to place the painting in an art-historical context, historical sources and comparative objects are consulted and evaluated. At the same time, institutions and private individuals with special expertise about St. Andreas are contacted in order to obtain information about the property. Finally, a conservation and restoration concept is drawn up.
