Overview:

Abstract: This document tackles the planning of an restoration and conservation
conception of the large gas engine No. XIII (man. 1927, by Ehrhardt & Sehmer ) from the former Halbergerhütte iron works, Saarbrücken (FRG). After destruction of the building where the engine was originally located a shelter was built to protect the engine from direct rain and UV-radiation. Beside of historical investigation of the industrial monument – one of a very few remaining in FRG – the engine is recorded and plannings of necessarily measures have been undertaken. Having achieved the elaborated restoration and conservation conception some treatments have been carried out to find out the realisation of the project.
