Overview:

Abstract: This thesis deals with the St. Georg Chapel in Brunnhausen near Pfullendorf. Within the scope of the examination of the chapel, the buildings history and its conservation has been worked up, an extensive description of the building, its materials and damages has been made, as well as an examination of the stratigraphy of the indoor walls. Further there has been thrown a closer look upon the mural paintings in the choir that date back to the early 17th century. The carried out investigations deal with the subject of the paintings, their extent, the painting technology and the existing damages. By trying out different uncovering methods and consolidation media on a testing field, there has been developed a conception for the conservation of the mural paintings.
