Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The thesis analyses fragments of a papyrus from the New Kingdom, 18th dynasty, Egypt. For the conservation of the papyrus ÄS 818 an identification of the used support fabrics of the previous conservation treatments was done. The treatment of the fragment is carried out in a humidification chamber.
Test series 1 examines the deformation in papyrus fragments which are fixed on support fabrics. These deformations could be clarified by the results of test series 1.
In addition to that the influence of the support fabrics on papyrus objects is presented by comparing the materials used in the course of the conservations work in the 19th and 20th century. The samples of a material originate from historical material collections of the National Museum of Egyptian Art Munich and from the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection Berlin.
