Christian Dressen: Examinations about the use of fruit-acid extracts for treatment of weathering Wood Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Wood in the outdoor environment is exposed to a variety of weathering processes. As a result of the weathering process the wood surface can become grey and the cells near the wood surface get delignified. The use of fruit-acid extracts shows a possibility to remove this greyed surface layer. In the thesis this treatment and possible changes to the wood tissue are examined. The pH values of untreated and treated wood samples are compared. Further more untreated and treated wood samples are examined by scanning electron microscopy, under UV light and staining techniques by stereo microscopy.
