H.-Christian Lindhorst: Movement of the sculpture "Pershing" by Ferdinand Bättgen, verbal and visual documentation, preservation in the museal context Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Beside the big group of static exhibits in museums, there are some who change independently in figure or position. These moving objects are predominantly in modern art- and technique- collections.
This means that as well as contending with the restoration and conservation of material there is contention with the immaterial size of movement.
This thesis paper is making the attempt to reconstruct the function of a work of kinetic art, called "Pershing" by Ferdinand Bättgen.
Its shown that substantial informations are missing.
From the question, so this can be avoided in future, results the need of a special documentation.
This paper contains the illustration of one possible form of movement- documentation developed and applied.
