Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Up to the thirties of our century automobiles were often covered with different kinds of imitation leather. Two special types were used on the „Wanderer W 10/II“ - cellulosenitrate based „artificial leather“ and linseedoil-varnish based „leather cloth“. Typical damages on these materials and their causes are examined in this paper. The construction of the multi-layered coatings, the production process of artificial leather and the decomposition of cellulose nitrate are discussed.
Furthermore, possibilities of conservation and preservation are developed and its execution is been reported here.
