Anne-Kathrin Lüßig: Procedures for the treatment of sooty surfaces Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The practical part of the diploma deals with the examination, the finding of the rough draft, the
conservation and restauration of the diplomaobjekt.
The theoretical part focuses the collection and edition of literature to the subject of soot. The emphasis are the definition of soot and its effect on painted surfaces and already applied methods for reducing soot. Based on this knowledge, the own tests for reducing the soot from the surface of the diplomaobject are following. Actions and results are described exactly. It also goes into the different treatments of good bounded colourlayers and bad bounded colourlayers. Possibilitys and limits are shown clearly. After the evaluation of the different tests, most of the soot on surface of the epitaph could be reduced. For the cleaning of the matte paint a method could not be found.
