Overview:

Abstract: Subject of the research is the usability of nitrate- reducing bacteria (denitrificants) on architectural surfaces and mural paintings. The first preexaminations target to adjust optimized conditions for cultivation of the two bacterial strains of Paracoccus denitrificans and Microvirgula aerodenitrificans. In addition the ability of those bacteria to damage architectural surfaces themselves should be observed. Specimen made of plaster with different binding agents were artificially salted with sodium nitrate and reducing of nitrate was induces successfully by applying bio-compresses on their surfaces.
