Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Nine selected cloistral works, so called „Heilige Leiber” (full skeleton relics), situated in
monastery churches and museums in northern Swabia are researched for their construction, used materials, mounting techniques and provenience. A compilation of historical recipes, their description and purchasing possibilities of the required materials are given. Moreover a short
insight into the revival of baroque marty worship and a few handiworks producing nunneries is
delivered (e. g. the Dominican Convent in Ennetach). Subsequent to the short descriptions of the catacomb-saints, comparisons of construction and accountrement are drawn. Conservation concepts for most frequently occurring damages are following. Detailed descriptions with photographic documentations and results of the investigations are attached.
