Table of contents

The catalogue for the exhibition of the same name explains, to a large public, the history of the construction, the art and the conservation-restoration of the cloister as well as the future conservation-restoration measures, both of which have been worked out by experts.

The authors come from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/ Holzminden/ Göttingen, the regional Conservation Office in Lower Saxony (Niedersächsisches Landesamt für Denkmalpflege), the Center for Science of Materials used in Cultural Properties in Northern Germany, e.V. (Norddeutsches Zentrum für Materialkunde), the Landeskirchenamt Hannover, the Niedersächsisches Landesamt für Bodenforschung and the Hornemann Institute.

Their contributions include the history of the former Benedictine monastery, the history of the construction, the art and the conservation-restoration of the cloister, scientific findings on historical materials used in construction, deterioration factors, planned conservation measures, as well as considerations regarding the exhibition concept.

All contributions conclude with English summaries. Captions are both in German and in English.
