Zusammenfassung: This thesis contains thoughts about fire protection in cultural historical church buildings. Short explanations to the chemical and physical basics of fire and the resulting definitions are delivered. Fire protection can be devided into three categories like "Preventive fire Protection","Defensive fire protection" and "Operative fire Protection". For every category current possibilities like structural designs and technical building equipment, the use of fire extinguisher and their accessibility, fire protection regulations and the development of plans for alarm and action are discussed. Thereafter examples of fire events and their consequences specifically for "St.Martin" church in Holle near Hildesheim and "St.Martin" church in Roringen near Göttingen are listed. Through investigations of some churches around Hildesheim, from interviews with experts and through the use of literature several general gaps in fire protection in cultural historical church buildings were found and their removal are described. A very important aspect is the preservation of structure and architecture of cultural historical buildings. Therefore a different compromise for every objekt regarding its individual character needs to be found. Examples are listed.
