Zusammenfassung: The central theme of the thesis is the problem of using lubricants in the conservation. Thereby the long term effect of selected dressings and fats, used for the care of leather in conservation, is examined.
The lubricants used for the test series are industrially made products and recipes assembled by conservators. These lubricants are used by the conservators from the institutes: Akademia Sztuk Pieknych w Warszawie und HAWK - Fachhochschule Hildesheim, Holzminden, Göttingen. In order to determine the lubricants vegetable tanned goat leather is chosen. Artificial ageing and analyses of physical and chemical properties of the leather should help to compare and appraise the influence of the lubricants.
