Zusammenfassung: The late baroque stucco ceiling in the former ballroom of castle Heuckewalde shows an elaborate yet simple figurate illustration without complex ornamental or floral arrangement from the first half of the 18th century. The stucco was accomplished freely modeled by using typical mortar based on dolomitic lime and plaster. The conducted analysis of the polychrome painting on wall and ceiling shows an artistically designed polychrome first layer of glue-bound distemper.

Based on the analysis of composition, function and attributes of the ceiling and its bearing structure, coherences and dependencies of individual components are pointed out.
On this basis, a broad evaluation of the damages is the main focus of this work. Furthermore a conservation concept is discussed and appropriate measures for the securing of plaster and stucco are tested. In this context, evaluations concerning the appropriate plaster for embedding the chosen flexible securing are performed.
