This paper deals with an early 17th century man’s doublet belonging to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum Nuremberg. The doublet is made up of green, slashed and pinked silk with a peascod belly. Dating and historical classification by the costume historian Janet Arnold is based on its characteristics and comparative objects. The doublet has extensive areas of damage due to light exposure, which have been subject to previous repairs. Several methods of digital mapping were tested for the purpose of documenting damages and repairs. As a result, metigoMAP 3.0 was selected for its ease of application in a workshop environment. The paper closes with a proposal for conservation and display of the object in a special exhibition, planned for 2015.
