Zusammenfassung: Planning of heritage projects requires an interdisciplinary team of specialists from different kinds of fields. The architect plays the major role in this process due to his wide and general knowledge of building constructions. However, for certain issues he requires additional knowledge from specialists. Until today, conservators have not taken part in the planning process in general although the planning of conservation work has been defined as a individual performance by law since 2005. Examples of the last ten years show that the planning of conservation work has gained more and more importance in the project planning of the restoration of exclusive heritage buildings. In order to make the planning of conservation an integral part of project planning, the role and responsibility of the conservator needs to be defined. Furthermore, planning processes have to be described.
