Zusammenfassung: The purpose of the thesis is to produce a draft conservation concept for choir stalls made for the former Dominican Church in Stuttgart in the years 1490/1493 which, after having been restored and reworked/adapted several times, were installed in St. Leonard's Church in Stuttgart in 1950. The thesis begins by providing a general description of the stalls, situating them as objects of art in their historical context and examining the different ways in which the stalls have been arranged and used over time as well as changes made to them and restorative work undertaken in the course of their history. The thesis describes the tech-nological investigations undertaken of dimensions, materials, design and work techniques as well as the work performed to determine the current status of the stalls with regard to losses of substance, damage to wood, construction, surface coverings, frames and paintwork. Con-sideration of preservation principles resulted in a conservation concept involving concrete steps for the management of climate, presentation, construction and surface as well the need to protect the stalls.
