Zusammenfassung: This master thesis deals with the design of a hall, which is located within the dairy on the Peacock Island in Berlin. The original illusionistic and neogothic wall painting of the hall was painted by Bartolomeo Verona in 1795. The stucco was constructed by Constantin Philipp Satori. This first design has been reworked several times and according to these circumstances, the original work is now only visible in small areas.
Within the framework of the presented work, the asset and condition of the mural painting are recorded and documented. Additionally the manufacturing specifications, repairs and possible causes of damage to the wall design are examined. By means of microscopic, scientific and building physics studies, the composition of existing materials, as well as the production process and the damage of the wall painting are explained in detail. Based on the results of the investigation a concept of conservation and restoration of the wall design is created and suggestions for presentation of the historical paintings are discussed.
