Zusammenfassung: In this master dissertation the restoration of the illuminated parchment genealogie of the Nuremberg
patrician family Tucher von Simmelsdorf from the holdings of the Nuremberg City Archives (E29/III Nr. 16)
has been carried out. The manuscript has suffered a serious fire and water damage in World War II. The
results are a distinctive cockling, a greatly shrunken and gelatinized tail edge, each other blocked
parchment bundles, as well as an extreme stiffness of the entire parchment. Because of the moisture entry
and the parchment movement the book paintings show damages like clod-like and powdering paint-layers.
In addition the moisture entry dissolved the red ink. The ink corrosions areas complicate on account of
numerous breakouts and cracks also the use of this manuscript. The focus of this master dissertation has
been on the straightening and stretching of strongly deformed and shrunken parchment leaves, where due
to the effectiveness of the conservation treatments have been integrated into this process. By the fact that
the genealogie as a result of this restoration was made usable again, it is now available for further
researches.
