Oliver Bendig: Fragments of clay artefacts from the early bronze age settlement in Berlin–Buch Zurück
Sprache: Original   -   Übersetzung
Zusammenfassung: Archeological objects from clay belong to the usual finds from excavations of settlements and they occur frequently as loomweigths or building clay in a most varying fragmentary form.
These objects are each characterized by different qualities of material, caused by a specific (more or less incidental) baking process and the heterogeneity of the clay as a natural substance. For the work 18 clay artefacts have been selected which come from the unconsolidated finds of the ancient excavation 1442 in Berlin- Buch, which has been done by Albert Kiekebusch between 1910 and 1914. The assessment of the baking temperature as an important criterion follows the determination of the colour on the basis of re-baking attempts. Restoration measures comply with a most gentle cleaning method (with the help of a precision sandblaster) and a partial stabilization of the surface which does not affect the object’s colour and is achieved with a mixture of funori and sturgeon.
