The aim of this thesis was to work out a restoration method for ink corrosion in manuscripts within the framework of the Armenian ink project. Based on the knowledge about the phenomena of ink corrosion, some methods for deacidification as well as for the deactivation of oxidation processes, catalyzed by transition metal ions, have been developed. In the course of this, partial aqueous and non-aqueous procedures have been considered. By means of various test series with chemical solutions applied on samples, a chelating agent and an antioxidant have been tested and parameters nave been determined. The tests were followed by an artificial aging of the samples to record data on the long-term effects of the solutions and to compare the final results. Interesting approaches have been elaborated, but none of the methods has been satisfying.
