Zusammenfassung: From 2003 to 2005 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Ivo Hammer the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen, Department of Conservation and Restoration, Field of Study Wall Painting/Architectural Surfaces, together with two other fields of studies of the department, as well as three other universities the architectural surfaces of the house were investigated and proposals for sustainable maintenance were worked out in three project campaigns on site in the Tugendhat house in Brünn, CZ. The master thesis deals results-oriented with the evaluation of the investigations, with the worked out proposals for conservation, as well as with the so far open-ended questions. Furthermore the scientific and conservation based analysis of the material and technique of the original interior wall surfaces and later restorations of the interior is concluded. In an experimental series about the conservation various smoothing cements on lime basis are developed and tested to cover the original surface which is linseed oil impregnated in terms of reconstruction. The future approach to conservation, restoration and sustainable maintenance is demonstrated. It is followed by a short discussion on the current handling of architecture from the period of classical modernism.
