Abstract: This diploma thesis includes the examination, the conception of conservation and restoration measures as well as the documentation of the polychrome stucco relief of the "Madonna Alberti" from the 15th century of the Dresden State Art Collections. The focus is on the removal of the brownish coating, the recovery of the colourfulness and the handling of the relief´s fragmentary stock of mounts. A concept was developed for dealing with the decimated frame stock, with the aim of transforming this stucco relief into a condition suitable for exhibition.
