Abstract: The present dissertation is concerned with an electrifying appliance in form of a slot machine from the twenties. In preparation of an exhibition at the museum „Technische Sammlungen Dresden“ the appliance was to be conserved professionally.
Based on the general history of slot machines and the development of medical electrifying appliances the object will be classified.
The components and the course function will be discribed and illustrated.
After the materials and their detoriation had been analised the conservation was carried out. An important subject of the dissertation is the conservation of the nickelized surfaces: several methods of cleaning, consolidation and loss compensation were examined and discussed. In the end it was tried to reconstruct important missing electrical and mechanical parts.
