Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The thesis paper deals with lubricating agents on technical objects in a museal context with emphasis on the limitations of their use.
Based on the consideration that lubricants should be preserved as a part of the object, their structure, ageing properties and compatibility with adjoning materials are discussed.
Analytical methods to evaluate the contition of the lubricants are explained.
In order to decide whether lubricants should remain, be removed or replaced, an analysis of the whole tribological system is required.
The resultig ideas were used for the treatment of the lubricant containing parts of a car (type Wanderer W10/II 1928).
