Nicoline Zornikau: Transport of large-sized Paintings - Folding compared to Rolling. Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:
Abstract: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe an option for transporting large-sized paintings on canvas. The technique illustrated here demands that the canvas gets detached from the centre of the stretcher. Then, the stretcher bars are to be parted. Alternatively the central section of the stretcher can be removed. After that, the sides of the stretcher can get folded with the canvas - supported by a reel or some other supporting form - forming an 'u' .
In the theoretical part of the thesis the general possibilities and limits of the technique of folding paintings are discussed. The theoretical approach is illustrated in the practical part by using examples of where the technique was put into practice.
