Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The asset Kleu of the City Archives of Neuss illustrate an important testimony of the history of Neuss with their approximately 20.000 gelatine dry plates. Due to mistakes in processing as well as earlier storage the negatives feature mechanical and chemical damages, mainly heavy defilement, silver mirroring and bonding of the glas negative. For formulating an assignable conservation concept for the total portfolio the cause of occurring damage symptoms in the asset will be determined by means of scientific analysis methods on original devices. Experimental researches regarding the divers conservation methods are succeeded by precise proposals for conservating the glas negatives.
