Katrin Schönhofer: The application of Colloidal Calcium Hydroxide for the consolidation of historical lime plaster – first testings and their check. Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The medium Colloidal Calcium Hydroxide (CaLoSiL®) forms an alternative for the consolidation of historical lime plaster based on calcite. It is a dispersion of fine particles of Calcium Hydroxide (50-250 nm) in Ethanol. Practical application experiments with CaLoSiL give proof of its suitability as a consolidant. Background for research is a theoretical analysis of the stability of plaster, inflluencing factors on stability, affecting mechanisms of damage, characteristics of CaLoSiL and investigation methods. Testings on a sampling area at the museum Römervilla Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and on lime plaster prisms indicate an enhancement of stability.
