Abstract: The structure of the excavated brick tessellated pavement in Augst, Basel/Schweiz in spring 2005 is unique. The object consists of lime mortar with additive of crushed bricks. The included décor is likewise composed of bricks and thus features an appearance which was unkown up to now. The thesis may be divided into two emphases. On the one hand it deals with the technique of the creation of the floor in the context of different conditions and materials. On the other hand the thesis treats of a proposed protection concept which is based on the refilling in form of a reburial.
