Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:
Abstract: The origins and technical bases of the lining of architectures with shining surfaces lie in the old Egypt. The Greek-Roman antiquity took over the Egyptian methods to a large extent and leads it into Roman antiquity as well as new developments to high technical completion. The special appreciation of shining surfaces as substantial part of the Roman material aesthetics was lost in the Middle Ages to a large extent and only again of the Italian Renaissance was taken up. In the consequence gloss techniques developed on basis of ancient techniques and Italian new developments to a determining stylistic element of the representative architecture of the modern times with high points in the baroque 17. and 18. Century and in the historicism of the second half 19. Century.
