Overview:	Abstract Details

Abstract:	Subject of the proceeding thesis is the investigation of the mural painting of the Tree of Jesse located in the middle alcove of the Ziesar Castle Chapel (Potsdam-Mittelmark County). The preservation state of the painting is discussed in detail. Moreover, clear differentiation could be made between the original medieval work and later restoring of the painting. Respective restoring phases of the object were further allocated as well as differentiated. Special attention has been placed on the phenomenon of colour respectively pigment alteration of various forms on the painting. For this some natural science examinations were performed and the results were compared with results of examinations, which already have been obtained within a current project on environmentally-induced pigment alteration.
